Here are glimpse of my scientific journey through the years, exploring diverse biological systems using experimental and data-driven approaches for understanding the mechanistic basis of biological processes.

Please read short summaries of my work here. I strongly endorse unrestricted access to science and have thrived to publish in open access and preprints. If you have problems getting hold of any of the works, please reach out, and I will be happy to send you a digital copy. Cheers, and happy sciencing!

How fascinating parasites invade their hosts

Here, we utilize cool electron microscopy methods to capture ultrafast events during which the eukaryotic parasites invade their host cells. We also show how the invasion apparatus changes during these stages and highlight probable mechanisms microsporidia use to prime themselves for initiating infection.

A close look at one of the smallest eukaryotic ribosomes

Here we reveal the high resolution structure of ribosomes from the microsporidia Paranosema locustae. Turns out, not only are these one of the smallest eukaryotic ribosomes known till now, these tiny ribosomes also tell  fascinating tales of microsporidia ribosome evolution.

How bacteria ensure quality of their ribosomes?

Ribosome make proteins with a very high degree of fidelity and extensive quality control mechanisms. But, how is the quality of ribosomes themselves ensured? In this we explored that in the tiny bacterium called E. coli.

Tools to track ribosome biogenesis in bacterial cells

Ribosomes make proteins in cells, but tracking their own formation is particularly tricky due to a variety of cellular and technical challenges. Here I designed a simple, fluorescence based system to asses ribosomes biogenesis in E. coli.

Strategies and approaches for mechanistic understanding of bacterial ribosome assembly

I undertook several approaches to revisit the field of bacterial ribosome biogenesis. In my work, a combination of biochemical, genetic, proteomic, and transcriptomic approaches were utilised to discover factors assisting ribosome formation and also established new checkpoints in during ribosome biogenesis.
